Mortar for tuckpointing stone foundation
I have a 120 year old house with a stone foundation in need to tuckpointing. I am not sure what mortar I need to use. I have not found any lime mortar available locally, and am wondering if Type N mortar from the big box store would work. If so, can it be colored? The existing the mortar is a light tan/cream colored, and I believe the Type N is grey. Anyone have any suggestions (other than hiring it to be done)?

You can buy white mortar and tint it to your liking... I would suggest Mike Haduck YouTube videos, as he custom mixes mortars with sand, bagged mortar, and portland cement.
