I have a few questions about putting together a cast iron wood burning stove.
1. What is the best way to clean the “rust and soot” from the cast iron?
2. What is the best way to remove the old cement so the pieces can be put back together the way they are supposed to?
3.What is the difference between the furnce cement and mortor, other than color?
Thanks in advance, Turtleboy

1. Soap and water
2. Chip and scrape.
3. Temperture rating....
3. Chemical compisition...

Ditto what IMERC said, and note that those differences in question #3 are extremely important. Use the wrong stuff, and your insurance company won't cover the resulting fire.
