   Get a "clock" receptacle. It recesses into the box. You do need a deep box.

   Yes.  It only has one outlet on it, and a little hook to hang the clock from.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CAAlso a CRX fanatic!

   I installed a 32" LCD TV for someone. The wall mount bracket had a few large rectangular openings through it, which I presumed were for receptacles and cable hookup. The only thing I had to do differently was turn the electrical boxes sideways (long side horizontal) so they lined up with the openings in the wall mount bracket.

   Did a bookcase a while back and the customer did some modifcations in the wall before my install.

   Use a 2 1/2 pvc pipe with two 90's. Put them in the wall and attach with a set of flanges and all you see is a hole in the wall behind the tv and the other can be down by the outlet. Just run your cords (electrical and A/V) through the pipe.

   You can get an extension cord with a flat plug, so the cord clings to the wall and only projects 1/2" or so. Trick is to find a short one.

   Another thing I have done in the past is to use a "cube tap" and plug the cord into the side of that, so it projects sideways.

   The jury-rig you have may actually be safe (hard to say without seeing it), but an inspector would have a conniption.

   Even better than the clock receptacle is a box made just for flat screen wall mounts. It is recessed back in the wall and comes with a coax outlet also. I got one at Menards, so I would think the other boxes would have them too.
