We are in the process of refurbishing a small bath which currently has no ventilation, save with the exception of one window. Due to the location of the bath and property design, a thru-wall vent is our only viable option.
My question is, given that the bath only has one exterior wall smack in the middle of that wall is a window, what would be an acceptable location for mounting the fan. We have about 2 feet on either side of the window
and could mount the fan anywhere on the 8′ wall.
Concerns:
b Mounting the fan high on the wall
and in close proximity to the window and blowing condensation straight down next to the window. (Windows are clad, exterior of home is cedar clap/pine trim.)
b Mounting the fan low on the wall
Would alleviate the issue of condensation being blown near the window, but not sure that a fan mounted near the floor will adequately draw the warm moist air from the room (relative to a wall unit mounted near the ceiling.)
We are planning to install a Panasonic Whisperwall unit fitted with a baffled hood.
Any insight/advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the assistance.

How about in the ceiling, near but not directly over, the shower, and venting through the roof?
*That was the ideal but we don't have access to a straight shot up - has to be out the sidewall.
*how about mounting a fan near the floor, and a duct up to the ceiling from which to draw the air? If it's in a corner and space allows, you could build a simple drywall chase to hide it. maybe an access panel in the bottom of the chase to get to the fan housing for maintenance. FanTech makes a nice in-line pvc housed unit.
