I’m planing to mount a 42″ plasma screen on a 2X6 wall. I also plan to install a recessed AC outlet and passageway for the screen feed within the wall. Also plan on having a removeable panel in the wall (behind the AV cab) for coax, phone, and speaker wire feeds.
Can’t find a recessed box at HD. Anything wrong with recessing a standard box?
Any of ya’ll done any of this? Any tips would be appreciated.

An old-style clock outlet is recessed. The box is flush with the wall, you need one deep enough to easily pack the wires in the back.

I'm assuming that you have picked the TV up already(I mean that literally) they are heavy and you need to make sure you have some good backing in that wall before hanging it.
Try a electrical supply store, they will have the box.

Try using a special box for remodel work that is designed for low voltage use(coax, phone, speaker wire, ect). It looks like an electrical box with the back cut out. This leaves you the whole wall cavity to fish your wire thru the wall. You can use a multi gang cover that will have termination point for all wires ( coax phone, speaker etc) You may have to use more than one box depending on the amount of cable and termination points. The cover plates and boxes are avialable at HD and Lowes.
lowes had some plastic grey boxes with covers that would work for recess
If this isn't an exterior wall (though it sounds like it is) the thing to do would be to box in a 4" deep opening maybe 8" square so that the outlets can mount on the side of the opening. On an exterior wall, though, this would compromise your insulation too much
If it is an exterior wall, consider furring out the wall a coupla inches behind the screen. You get depth for outlets and connectors, and you get a chase for cables. (A chase or a conduit for cables is a good idea in any case. Your system may change in a few years, and it'd be nice to be able to easily pull in new cables.) Furring out the wall shouldn't be a big problem in the room; the screen is so much shallower than CRTs that almost anything is possible.
Yeah, it is an exterior wall. Think I'll do as you suggested and frame a recess for the AC and screen feed in a race. Most of the screens I've seen mounted have a piece of ply screwed to the studs with a hole for the feed and AC, and the mount is screwed to that.
The other cables will be lower in the wall, just above the shoe moulding, mounted in a removeable panel so I can get access to the cable feed. The house is pier and beam, so I can get through the exterior wall plate and run cables from below.
