I have a pool light switch outside my slider, the emt comes out of the ground (cement slab) and runs up approx. 40″ along side the slider door opening and is fastened to the stucco next to the door opening. The problem—-I plan to install a retrofit sliding glass door and the 2 1/4″ vinyl trim will collide with the light switch box location. I will need to move the box 3-4″ away from the door opening.
I want to have this look as inconspicuous as possible. Other than being careful with a hacksaw blade and cutting the pipe (and hopefully not the wires inside the emt) and putting a couple of 45 degree sweeps to offset the switch, does anyone have a better idea?? The door is on hold til I can figure this out. Thanx

Conduit bender?

BRING BACK SPLINTY.
1- shut off the power
2- To cut the conduit [EMT is not the same as rigid]-- use a pipe cutter. A miniature version will cut up to 1". Do not cut all the way through. About 2/3 should work. Then snap it off. This should give you a nice rounded internal edge. Then file or ream the outside and, if necessary, the inside with a small half round file. Or, if there is a coupling near the ground, just unfasten it.
3- You need a pipe bender. [3/4" for 3/4" emt or 1" for rigid {which is like plumbing pipe}]. Make the bends 30* or, preferably, 22.5*.

Second. I can't remember the formula, but you can even get it exactly outside of the trim with two bends. Wait......for a 30 deg. the multiplier is 1.4. that means you multiply 3.5" x 1.4 and that is how far apart your two 30 deg. bends will be to get at 3.5". For 45 deg. bends, your multiplier is 2.
