this is yur neck of the woods...
what say you???
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Suggest you check out Steamboat Springs, CO.
Well, you could do worse than stopping in Austin for a bit. They need actually skilled people with all the growth around there. The winters are a lot milder than in CO (more like coastal NC with a lot less snow). And, worst comes to worst (meaning between JIm, Hiker, Tom, and Blownonfuel's addition we can't find you work), you could still head off to CO.
Los Angeles-Glendale area... still solid (but expensive to put down roots).
Houston is still hopping, house prices never did spike like elsewhere so they are still doing ok--lots of competition from our southern cuzins though. (talk to Blue about that--he's in Tx).
Hartford Conn - Insurance money.. medical etc...
New York City - always folks making money there--so long as you aren't afraid of heights. Customers still say it is impossible to find anyone to build anything.
Aim for cities 2 mil plus... cream floats--if you are good you will find your way.
Good Luck!

Rifle's got an interesting future. Oil shale's back, with gargantuan water needs. From the Denver Post: http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_10220108
It's a concern shared by Rifle Mayor Keith Lambert, whose community would get a share of that money and whose skepticism may be telling of the potential political risks the Republicans are taking by pushing the oil-shale debate on the Western Slope, an area that will be critical to GOP chances in the state this year.
An affable personality and a popular local figure, these days Lambert is also a man overwhelmed. The city of 9,000 is trying to keep up with the breakneck growth produced by a boom in natural-gas drilling, with construction projects for a new water treatment plant, millions of dollars in expanded roads and a new police station.
Lambert said locals have strong concerns over what commercial oil-shale development could mean on top of all that — in terms of growth, infrastructure demands and especially water.
"They say around here that you talk over whiskey and fight over water. . . . We will dig our heels in when it comes to our water," the mayor said.
