    Nice, Andy!

Cool to see what yer up to. I totally understand wanting to be friggin' done when you've spent so much time in one space.

Nice to be done and then stand back and enjoy looking at the fruit of all that time killin' your knees!

Glad to see you are busy. Keep on truckin'.

    Nicely done Andy.

Do you have a link on your site to a bunch of slideshows like this ?

    1. andybuildz | Mar 12, 2009 07:15pm | #3

No link but I think in that slideshow screen you can see other slide shows I made public. There's a roof on a mansion I had done last year that you would have loved to slate over...I thought of that while we were there : )

Love the sink!!! Nicely done. Can I afford you? :)

    1. Snort | Mar 13, 2009 01:08am | #7

You do pretty work, bro. Nicely appointed bath. So, whaddyou use for stain and finish, and whaddyou use for a shower door?http://www.tvwsolar.com

I went down to the lobby

To make a small call out.

A pretty dancing girl was there,

      And she began to shout,

"Go on back to see the gypsy.

He can move you from the rear,

      Drive you from your fear,

      Bring you through the mirror.

He did it in Las Vegas,

And he can do it here."

      1. andybuildz | Mar 13, 2009 01:20am | #8

thanks dude...the stain I made myself and three coats of oil poly.... The shower gets no door...next to no water comes out. I also put a light/fan vent IN the shower stall... Works perfectly. Don't even ask what those fixtures cost..the medicine chest alone was over a grand...the toilet is electric...the seat closes on it's own with an air tube....

A bit hard to say being I did other things inbetween but probably about 8 weeks b/c I did it alone like an idiot.

An electric toilet! I want one of those too. This client sounds like the clients my husband and co-workers work for. Oh, to be able to afford all of that. Why the fan in the shower?

          1. andybuildz | Mar 13, 2009 04:07am | #13

Why the fan in the shower?

vent fan..not like a ceiling fan.

that shower head alone was also over a grand,,,whewwww. Weighs a ton. He git most all the stuff from Direct Buy which costs 6K to join. They're gettingtheir kitchen from them too...

At Teepee Fest andy opened up his  house and showed us the bath reno he'd done.

Had a shower deal in the master bath where he'd joined two panes of glass at a corner. Had never seen that inside a bath. Kinda cool.

          3. Carole4 | Mar 13, 2009 10:46pm | #35

I'd love to see that. There is a glass blowing studio here and they make glass sinks among many other cool glass objects. Those sinks scare me, but they are gorgeous. They built the studio and their house up in the Catalina Mountains. <http://www.fireranchglassworks.com/gallery10.htm>

I;m with Carole, I like the sink/ vanity. Is that a slab of stone thr sink is floating on?

It's a porcelin sink sitting on a wood vanity. the front is all drawer that pulls out.

I used 3/4" steel L-brackets I bolted into a 2x12 I installed notched into the studs in the wall behind it..

    As always, dynamite job Andy!

I don't particularly care for such large wall tile....but it seems to work well in there.

BTW....I noticed knee pads lying around on the floor in some of the shots.....but in the shots with you working, your knees were bare.

I know how sweaty and uncomfortable those things can get man....but don't be workin' too long without 'em!

I hate wearing knee pads cause the straps make the back of my legs sore so I wear em' half the time..the good knee pads are way too expensive plus i ain't on my knees that long and make way less then a hooker so....

The tiles aren't my taste but I know what these people like and it works for them and thats what counts. No right or wrong.

One thing about these tiles...they were hands down the hardest tiles i ever had to drill through when I went to put in half a dozen towel rods and cut for the water faucets in the shower. those diamond bits for my roto zip and drill get real expensive.

always be sure to use a spritzer bottle and keep spritzin' water as you go..

      Thanx for the kind words

Very nice work.  I don't care for the style either, but you did a great job.

I hate knee pads too. If I had to do more than a room here and there in my own house, I would make myself some tiling pants: I'd sew a big piece of velcro onto the knees of several pair of work pants. The other side of the hook and loop would glue into a pair of gel knee pads with the straps cut off.  No strap, there when you need them.

        1. andybuildz | Mar 13, 2009 08:22am | #24

I should just spring for the good knee pads...I tried them once and it was night n day from what I use. They look like they're made for Robo Construction Doode..lol. The go down past your shins.

They go for around a hundred bucks or better.

I bought cargo pants specifically for tiling. The knees are like triple thick so they're good for a while...so I just switch back n forth...

They have pants that have pockets in the knees for padding but I don't like em...tried em once before.

It's not like I do it every day so...

They've got knee pads that slip in when you need them. You might want the 3/4 pants on page five (hilariously called high waters). I picked up a pair at JLC last year and they are very comfortable to me.

        FWIW...

I'm w/ you on the kneepads. I came across these a few years ago. Throw a couple on the floor and there's usually one close enough to where I'm sittin'.

Not that you should go with them because I say.  Just that I would vouch for them. It's another angle.

Ridiculously comfy. And durable. And cheap...

Got a couple for the wife too...

Was thinking 'bout yer house the other day....I know what it's like with yer kinda project...and thought...it's time for you to psych yourself up again now that you have a little time and the weather's gettin' betterer.....to take on a section of the exterior of yer house...I know it takes a running leap to get started on anything biggish...least for me it does. I like doin' absolutly NOTHING for a few days or sumpin' big for a few weeks....although I mighta learned not to take on anythingf too big other wise I start hatin' it.....grrrrrrrrrr...yelp

It's the old " I have the time, but no money, or I have the money, and no time" routine.  I have the verandah posts, 10@ 12' tall cedar trees..then the rafers go up..no ideer on the roof, probably 5v galv.

Got the whole north and east side to resheath and side, still need to finish the soffit on the west side, so the siding there can be finished up that high..but I had to buy scaffold..that spent the $$$..LOL.

Then the shop, and a yurt..anda chicken coop, and more fencing..it never ends where to spend.

But our bathroom is pretty good..that was the first thing I did (G).Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks
