I recently had a contractor skip town owing me for three weeks of pick-up framing. Actually, the General disappeared then the framing-sub I was working directly under didn’t get his money and as a result couldn’t pay me. I filed a wage and hour claim with the State and also a lien. I am pretty sure the framing sub has no money and that my claim against him will be a squeezing blood from a stone or however that one goes. But what about my lien against that property? What are my chances of seeing any money once that property is seized, sold or whatever. Work has ceased on the house…no activity since two days before Christmas ( the day we were supposed to get paid). Any thoughts?

Don't know about all States. But those I do know about would allow you to file a Mechanics Lien on the real estate itself. Check it out. That way you may not get paid right away. But sooner or later someone will want a clear title and they have to deal with you to get it.
*Might talk to your attorney about it. A good lawyer might not be able to get blood out of a turnip - But they can get the turnip.
