need some advice. I bought/used a brand new Super Hawg about 2.5 years back for a project and it’s been sitting in storage since yesterday. I needed to use the tool today and it works fine. However, it seems leaked a good bit of oil out of the housing while in storge. Is this normal ?

the seal(s) dried out.. ya need new ones...
not normal...
wait one...
hole-hawgs don't use oil.. they use grease.. that moly stuff...
the grease seperated.. new grease when ys change the seals...
Thanks.....hmmmmm. Is it fine that I store my tools in the garage. Out here in the northeast, the garage does hit the freezing point during the winter. I keep all my tools out in the garage except for the cordless tool batteries. The big stuff like miter saw, table saw, etc is fine outdoors.
Should I be hibernating my worm drive circular saw + hole hawg <g>.
other than the batteries if the tool can't deal with the extremes ya need to look at a different brand...
none use of tools will let the seals dry out and become leakers..
Hmmm......in that case, for a DIY'er....is it good enough that every 6 months, I just plug in the tool and run it for 3 minutes or so good enough to keep the seal *wet* ? Hell, I'm willing to do it every 3 months as long as I keep the tools in check.
that plan will work...
but ya gotta go play with yur tools more often...
alan,
send th' super hawg to me and I'll see that it gets re-greased AND that it gets sufficient use to keep it in tip-top shape.
Whenever you need it (annually or whenever), e-mail, and I'll send it back. Rest assured that I'll treat it properly.
Happy to help,
Cliff
I'd think that in Milwaukee they would have trouble with their tools when it gets too hot.

Bloods usually what's leaking if there's a Hawg involved.

maybe that's why it sat on the shelf for several years....
