    *
the name has changed and the yard has improved over the years.

*This is their hammer collection. If there isn't one you like they will gladly bring it in.

      1. Qtrmeg_ | Jan 16, 2002 03:09pm | #3

*Pro, don't they have a Home Depot near you? I hear they will beat anyones price and their sales people can't be beat, (at least they frown on you beating them).

        1. Pro-Dek | Jan 16, 2002 06:47pm | #4

*Ortmeg-HD is 2 blocks down the street, but they don't have red incised 3x12,18'and 20'PT 2x8,2x10,and there wood is dry. They don't load your truck, they don't let you drive thru the yard and pick out your own wood and throw it on the lumber rack. You have to handle everything twice.Load a cart, wait in line, then load your truck. They beat the price on things like extension cords, shop lights, and drill bits, but not deck packages.

          1. Jon_Blakemore | Jan 16, 2002 09:30pm | #5

*Pro, What kind of a drive is it for you?Jon

          2. Qtrmeg_ | Jan 16, 2002 10:13pm | #6

*I was just pulling your leg Pro, I swear I go into attack mode whenever I have to go into the place. Probably the best ly around here is about two miles from them and I feel for the owners, but I hope that they can hang in there. The second best just closed their store area in exchange for a hut out in the warehouse, providing the bare essentials. The very best ly I know is 50 minutes from here and they have one of the boxes within miles too, the best ones will survive but at a cost for everyone. I miss being able to pick up this and that here and there. I think I miss the hardware stores the most. There is one that is barely hanging on out in the boonies from me, and it has to be my favorite. They almost never have what you need but they have an old fashioned soda fountain. I guess the day HD can provide that will be the day you see me cruising HD, loading 2x’s on a cart, and asking the dolts for advice.

*Hey Pro-Dek take us over to the nail guns I wanna see em. I'm thinking about turning the hammer display you posted into my wall paper.

          4. Pro-Dek | Jan 17, 2002 03:48am | #8

*Jon- the lumber yard is 3 miles from my house.Gunner- I'll get you a good nail gun display picture when I go get some more fasteners.

          5. ken_hill | Jan 17, 2002 05:29am | #9

*Pro-Dek - Sounds (and looks) like you've got a winner for your LY. Personally, I only go to HD if I have no other choice- really, I can't stand the place. I feel like I'm just another head of cattle. I try to do my business with local suppliers who know my name and give a sh** about getting my business. I also don't go exclusively to just one LY. I like the idea of spreading my money around locally, and besides, different suppliers carry diff. things and so I go to those who have the particular thing that I want. I'm in Olympia, aren't you up North on the Eastside? What's the name of your LY? Thanks for all your pics and postings- always learning! -Ken

          6. Pro-Dek | Jan 17, 2002 06:06am | #10

*Hi - Ken- BMC West in Issaquah, WA is the best, then we have Dunn Lumber in Bellevue, and Plywood Supply in Kenmore.Bob

          7. Steve_Joyce | Jan 19, 2002 01:22am | #11

*I wish we had a yard like that here (MA). I as well avoid HD now when I can. I have spent my share of $ there over the years but never for lumber. The Lowes near me is actually decent cmopared to HD. However we have a good chain here in MA called National Lumber that does a good job for me. But Pro-Dek to have that ly within a few miles from your house is impressive.SJ

          8. Dale_Wermenchuk | Jan 20, 2002 07:03am | #12

*Judging from that first picture, You must have one hell of a pickup truck.................. All the people on the ground look like ants when yur sittin in the cab of that thing.

          9. Richard_Paddon | Jan 21, 2002 01:11pm | #13

*Pro-Dek,Iwas just in your neck of the woods today, after doing a Seattle to Eugene back to Seattle drive on Sat. Then yesterday, we dropped off some things up at a storaage palce in NB, and returned the rental truck in Isitsskaw :) Born and raised native from the otherside of the pond, from the beach. My kid brither and his family are just up on the Plateau, and he is in the process of closing on a house up there. He will probably be spending some money at BMC, not to mention since you forgot to do so, now you can send the crew down to pick up some fresh goodies at Crispy Creams ! By the way, I am sure you have your connections, but if you are ever in the need for an electrician, my brother pulls wire for a living, let me know.

*hey, bob.. these are two of my inside salesmen at JT's Lumber...Doug & Bart.... Bart just got back from Andersen Window school in Minnesota.. Doug says he don't need no stinkin school.. had an account with JT's since '72 when Helen and i started building our first house... nice hat....

          11. Pro-Dek | Feb 03, 2002 09:38am | #15

*That hat looks good on you Mike!

          12. Pro-Dek | Feb 07, 2002 03:08am | #16

*How bout a Gas powered air compressor?

          13. Pro-Dek | Feb 07, 2002 03:13am | #17

*OK Gunner - here is a picture of some nail guns on display at Eastside fasteners where I buy my nails. Is this picture blurry or is it just me?Bob

          14. Luka_ | Feb 07, 2002 03:21am | #18

*It's not just you. It's not actualy blurry, it has just been 'condensed' too much. You know how a .zip file works, right ? It 'condenses' a data file into a lot smaller data file. Well, .jpg does the same thing for picture files. Was this picture saved as a .jpg, then you did something with the picture, and then saved it again as a .jpg ? If so, it was 'optimized' twice, leading to the fuzzy look.

          15. Gunner_1750 | Feb 07, 2002 04:51am | #19

*Bob,I've been waiting for this picture. Here in Ken-tuck you don't see many Hitachis. We have a game we play at work called "The wall of nailguns" every time we go to the hardware store you have to identify all the nailguns you own as fast as you can. I'm the supreme grand master with six. It's kind of fun throwing your arms around saying ."I have one of these, one of those, one of those, three of these. Especialy if three of you are doing it at the same time.

          16. Mike_Smith | Feb 07, 2002 07:28am | #20

*That salsa was great Mike! That box sure made the rounds.Texas-WA,WA-MA,MA-WA,don't ya just love that popcorn packing? Thanks Again!Bob

          18. Pro-Dek | Feb 07, 2002 08:11am | #22

*Luka-I think I just moved cause I downloaded it right off the memory card. Thanks for the info-U out of the snow yet?

          19. Pro-Dek | Feb 07, 2002 08:15am | #23

*Gunner- how the heck do you fire six guns at once? Are you sure you don't have your six shooter mixed up with your nail guns?:-)What's your favorite framing gun?

          20. Gunner_1750 | Feb 07, 2002 02:12pm | #24

*All I have for framing is a Paslode. All mine are used for odd jobs and such. I want to buy a good all around heavy duty framer. What do you recomend?

          21. Pro-Dek | Feb 07, 2002 07:09pm | #25

*Everyone around here use the NR83 Hitachi. I have 4 of them and haven't needed to service any of them. The new lighter guns don't quiet have enough power or weight behind the gun to set 3 1/4" galv nails.
