My propane tank water heater just died!
It died from old age/terminal rust – after about 15+ yrs. Damp cellar. I need advice on getting new replacement, such as brand (30-40 gals), (tankless beyond my budget!)… I saw a Rheem 40 gal on line for $300 approx, Sears Kenmore got poor reviews….
Any advice and estimates on delivery and installation costs on top of hardware costs from your all experiences? Cellar is rust heaven for tools and all else stored there…but it’s too late for me to undertake remedying, at my advanced age 75, and sparse funds. Tks for any help.

Man, that's rough. I read about all the other stuff you went through in the Bible, and now this! Wish you the best.

15 years is about par for a gas water heater in those conditions. Dryer conditions might get you another year or three, but not much more.
