Hello All,
With what will seem like miles of interior trim (crown, casing, base, jambs, etc) I will have lots of holes to fill. Over the years have used Elmers interior wood filler (white goop), which is not the easiest to use AND if the hole is deep will require two applications. Is there a product out there that will fill the hole with less fuss than Elmer’s and in one application?
Regards,
Geoman

For paint grade stuff I like the spackle that goes on pink and turns white when it's paintable - sands easily and with a little practice a dab is left high right over the hole - my painter does it in one quick movement but i'm still trying to get it down with one finger swipe to both get it deep in the hole as well as minimal amounts above the hole so it's faster to sand yet thick enough to not show the hole when dry. It's nothing special, but it's easy to use and the color makes it easier to see where it is and isn't.
To tell the truth I often fill the holes quickly and wipe off the excess with a damp rag - then after it's dry I'll add small amounts over the hole and sand when dry - a little extra effort, but I really hate sanding so for me it's fine.
