Hi, Folks:
Done a fair amount of restoration and new construction, been out of the field for a while, and now getting back in, probably mostly remodel & restoration, but this time I’m setting up with air, so I’m pretty excited about it. I have the compressor, finish nailer, and would appreciate any thoughts from your experience with the following, before I buy:
Framing: Makita AN901 or Max CN890II
Brad: P-C BN200A or Max Superfinisher NF221/16-55
Also, I bought a P-C palm nailer last week and returned it immediately because the magnetic fastener-holder wouldn’t hold fasteners. Are there palm nailers whose magnetic holders work? And if so, will they hold a nail straight?
Thanks for any feedback, and have a great weekend, all!
Charlie

senco A9 for a palm about 160 but worth it, Boss bought a model A20 this week, the cheaper version at HD and it's not as good
My PC finish gun works fine, but not the best out there, not familar with the other you mentioned
Framing guns look at the bostich dual nailer, not sure the model # but it can be used as a framer and a hanger nailer.
Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, Professionals build the Titanic.
PC doesn't make nail guns, they make nail starters. If you need real impact for framing etc. the best one out there is the Bostich wN88ww. 1000 pounds where everyone else is at around 800.. I like the 1 handed loading and light weight. Plus unlike the PC there is no recoil. On top of that the magazine holds a lot of nails (unlike PC or several others)
For trim nailing with a 15 gauge nailer, the Hitachi NT65MA seems to be best..
For a palm nailer the Bostich has a magnetic nail holder and seems to have a great amount of impact force..
the 18 guage trim nailer from Bostich seems to work well. I haven't had any misfires evan though all of my trim work has been into white oak and black walnut..
I have 5 Power Master Plus Framing Guns and never have any problems with them. You can use Senco nails for them also. You can get the nails at any lumber yard or Home Depot. Home Depot stocks both.
The guns are light weight and powerfull. You can't beat the price for a gun like this ($269.00) and I use them every day. I'll give you a link for them.

I'll second Joe's recommendation about the Paslodes; they're built fairly well, take a lot of jobsite abuse, and overall work well. My local lumber yard had them for $229 last week, and I know my boss gets them for $200.
For about the same price you could buy the DeWalt, though. I have one as my personal gun and I like it better, as does everyone on my crew. It has push-button depth adjust that is just awesome.
I also have Senco's A20 palm nailer, and it's a handy tool. Like someone else said, the A9 is more expensive but tougher. I don't use mine enough to justify the higher price myself.Quality before Quantity
The CN890II is the Max coil nailer. I have that gun and love it. If it was stolen I would replace it that day. I use it to frame walls, nail down sheathing, whether roof sheathing or wall sheathing or sublfoor. It works flawlessly. It has plenty of power and seems very well made.
With a full coil of 10d framing nails, it can seem heavy. We have the DeWalt full round head nailer and that is a great gun. I've heard good things about the Paslode. We used to have 2 of the Paslodes, but they were stolen. Seemed like a good gun.
How 'bout a Senco SLP20 for brads? Nice and light weight, slim (easy to fit into tight spots), plenty of power for 18ga brads, low maintenance.
Like others have said, I really like my Senco A-9. The magnetic drive guide seems great (no problems holding nails). I've really only used it for joist-hanger size nails, so I'm not sure that it would be good for slimmer nails.
As far as framing, I really like my Powermaster Plus (Paslode), but I don't do so much framing that I'm much of an expert. It's cheap, lightweight, and blasts the nails (not a nail starter).
