Is there a nailgun that can be used to shoot nails into the holes in a joist hanger? Recommendations accepted. Thanks

Yes.
Try the Bostich.... best bang for the buck. Paslode is good, but heavy and mine broke down alot. Hitatchi is very good but pretty expensive. Bostich has two nose pieces so you can use it as a regular framing gun or with the MCN nose. (metal connector nose)
Run a search on Amazon tools and hardware for "hardware nailers" iirc.
Being the cheapscate I am, I simply started the nails by hand and then used my Senco palm nailer...very effective at driving in joist nails.
And do the special joist-bracket nail guns shoot HD Galv N10's for deck hangers?
BruceM
yes they do. I have the paslode and the bostitch positive placement nailers. The paslode can shoot 1 1/2" and 2 1/2" hanger nails. my paslode doesn't break down, but the screws seem to keep coming loose. if I don't keep an eye on it, the tip falls off. Yea I know a little lok-tite. keep forgetting to pick some up!
Same as BruceM. Start nails by hand, finish with palm nailer -- have Bostich PN100. I start the nails by hand for better "angle control" in the hanger.
However, I usually do not have to use a lot of hangers on a remodel job. If I was framing in a seismic, or hurricane area of the country, I would probably be looking for a positive placement gun also.

Never underestimate the value of a sharp pencil or good light.
John Spier uses a positive placement nailer (Paslode, I think) in his "Better Ways to Frame a Deck" article in the latest FHB. He wrote that it paid for itself very quickly.
Thanks for everyone's input. I did not have an extra $300 for a new gun so I decided to buy a palm nailer based on other reader's input. Purchased one at a store that buys company seconds ( Ocean State Job Lot) and picked up a WEN for 40 bucks. Works great and I can see myselg using it in many other tight spots. Can't beat the price!
