Like I posted in a seperate thread…I’m looking to join a builders group mostly for group rate insurance. If I could find one that offers insurance…and helps grow a small business…that would be ideal.
Which brings me to NARI. Which would have been my first choice…..except they require you be in business for one year first.
That’s a fine way to help grow a small business! Why don’t they have a program to join right off the bat….maybe an “associated membership”…which you do for a certain amount of time…then move on to a full mumber?
If they don’t want me now….I’m not sure I’ll want them later! Seems there would be a better system in place. Which there may be….I’m gonna call the local office tomorrow and ask questions. Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,
I use to belong to NARI here in NY years ago. One reason was also the insurance but at the cost of....well, I don't know what theyre up to now but it was almost $400 a year when I belonged....hat kinda put a hamper on the reason for insurance. What I did which is also a good biz move is...I joined my local Chamber Of Commerce and attended meetings and made good contacts there in my community. I got group insurance through them that was way better then NARI. Definatly not putting NARI down cause they have their place but it depends what you want exactly. Good luck....oh, and by the way...when you advertise and say in your ad "A member of my Local Chamber of Commerce" that is something everyone understands. That your involved in your community.
*I recently saw an ad that claimed "Soon to be a member of the Chamber of Commerce" LOL!Rich Beckman
*???? where did this person get their ad writing skills? back of the Wheaties box? no wait... Wheaties isn't that stupid...
*Pretty funny and with all I been through in my work I was gonna put in my ad...CLIFFORDRENOVATIONS.COM "Soon To Be A Major Motion Picture"....just an attention getter.....lol....like when I was in my teens and hitched across the country from NY to SF Calif..I got all the way there and back holding up a sign on the side of the road that said "MOON" lol.ya gotta make people smile !
*Andy- That type of advertising is not at all off base in the real world. -Ken
*ken....Aint off base but it may seem kinda goofy to people is all. Thats all I considered...YETTTT writing MOON on a piece of cardboard when I hitched across country in my teens got me across this country and back hitchiking as I said faster and more interesting then anyone might imagine. My work on this current four year full time project that I did almost alone thats finally up for sale....well people had said I was a fool to attempt it with all I had to go through....guess what? Its done and I will get whats mine and then some for it and move on to the next fool hearty project with goofy names along side my ads....Bottom line is my web site shows my devotion and creative work with perserverance. CLIFFORDRENOVATIONS.COM I think a web site can be as valuable a tool as my hammer..I mean cordless screw gun
*WElll after collection all my info.....seeing as how NARI don't want me for at least a yrs......I checked witht eh other building associations...and the local chamber.....and only thru the chamber can I get insurance for a "group" of one. Other that that...I'd have to make the wife a bogus employee...which is just complicating the situation. The chamber.....which goes thru the exact same insurance broker...I spoke with the same lady concerning my last 3 choices......will let me do it as a group of one.....and I can even join as an "associate Member" for half the cost of a "full member" The associate member gets the insurance discounts and invites to the functions....but doesn't qualify for other business related discounts. I can always switch up later. But...I'm thinking....this discount will let me join for the insurance...and still maybe join the local builders association....the one that will take me now! Don't know if I'll ever chack back into NARI! Don't see who that rule helps a young company out. Jeff
