I recently completed a cedar deck and would like to seal it with a non-toxic, solvent free sealer. Any suggestions on a product that doesn’t need to be reapplied every year and won’t cost a fortune?
thanks for the advice.

david... fogeddabout it.... ain't no such animal...
sorry...
the more opaque.. the more protection... paint is best... stains not so much ... and clear finishes on a deck are a joke......
*David -Although the stuff may not be considered non-toxic, it's worth checking out the following:For an eye-opener on wood finishes, go to this site.http://www.askbuild.com/cgi-bin/column?180Then onto -http://www.saversystems.com/Nope, I have no financial interest in this. The above article was actually mentioned by another Breaktime member. (I'm sorry I can't remember who it was.)If I have a need for exterior wood finish I'll probably go with synthetic.
*Mike, you wouldn'ti reallypaint a cedar deck, would you?
*no.. i don't think i would waste my time putting a clear sealer on it either...ahhhhh.. i guess i would.. but it would be a waste of time... and money
*I had Wolman's Raincoat plus toner put on our PT deck (which we inherited, and hate) last spring. In 'cedar' color it actually makes the PT look a little like cedar. Water beads up, the color is very reasonable and it will probably last 2 years or so. At least it won't peel.Jeff
