HI. Can anyone recommend a good architect in the Lynchburg, VA area. I am looking for someone who is not conventional & has residential experience. I don’t need someone to design a rectangle, I can build that out of my head. I need with experience and a passion for creating something different. Thanks.

Go on line and look up the better business bureau in your area. Any reputible business usually list with them.

Lynchburg, VA. That hotbed of unconventional architecture? You'd think the place would be lousy with radical design.
You might be surprised. There's more to Lynchburg than Jerry Falwell. The river front rennaissance is going to be interesting.
a1, what sort of architecture do you have in mind? I presume you know there's a good-sized architecture school just up 29 here (UVA). A wide variety of housing has been built in this area. Even my place isn't considered all that far out anymore. PAHS Designer/Builder- Bury it!
Tom: I have been in touch with Deltec homes in Ashville. NIce looking house but they are not home designers & dont' want to do interior elevations, kitchen design, elec. prints etc. They want to do the floor joist, walls & roof but we are supposed to go to an interior designer for everything else. I don't want to al la carte this thing. I don't want to build the conventional rectangular/square box. It must be efficient and different. It doesn't have to be round but it cannot be a dull boring soulless thing sitting like a pimple on the butt of the property. I can build but can't design worth a darn, hence my need. We have 58 acres in Appomatox, about 1 hr + south of Charlottsville. That's where the house will be. Thank you for your input.

Round, Unconventional, Ashville.Do you like concrete? What about Cloud?
Never hear fo Cloud. Have contemplated building with SIPS, insulated conc. forms etc. I am very unhappy with the quality of framing lumber. Not nearly as good now as it was in 1970 when I started. I am not married to the round form. I like the efficiency but the problem is that we live in a world with square stuff. Hence, designing and placement of cabinets, furniture etc. is akin to the proverbial square peg in the round hole problem. Oh well. Thank you for your assistance.

Thanks, Bill. Kind of you to mention it. I don't want to do anything that looks like soliciting here. He can follow my website link in my profile, and if anything resonates, I'm here.

Barry Marsh---old freind and all around good guy
Thank you I will give him a call.
Call the AIA, American Institute of Architects. They can give you a list of architects that do residential work in your area.

Mike: I tried the AIA but not with a lot of success. A lot of their links and some of the contact information seems to be a bit out of date. Thank you
Try Michael C. Brown, Staunton, VA. This is from his website, and he apparently works far and wide.
