Looking for a hardwood flooring installer in Bellevue, WA.
I called a couple places and they were asking for $7-10 for labor including finish. Have I gone mad, or is this what I should expect? I searched the archives and they seem to indicate half that.

7 to 10 dollars a sq ft finished is not out of line at all
Your in High rent district of Washington State! "EASTSIDE"
Use a 1.25 multiplier times the national average $11.51 x 1.25= $14.38 per foot for flooring, felt, power nailer, compressor, nails, disc sander, drum sander, Varnish, brushwork.
Sounds fair to me.

What species of wood are you using and how wide? 7.00/ft labor to install and finish natural with two coats of oil poly is usually the fee for the top companies on a raised foundation. Select Red Oak strip (2 1/4 wide) is running around 2.70/ft + tax with a 35.00 delivery fee. Base boards, base shoe, reducers, nosing and riser and treads will be extra. Anything under 500 sf can cause a premium on the above labor figures. third coat of polyurethane. Add .75/ft. GW
I asked for brazilian cherry. Seattle Floor Service quoted me $9 including materials for select grade. This is almost too good to be true considering what other people were quoting.
Anyone have experience with them?
Also, I have a red oak staircase... should I get red oak floors to match, or would the 2 woods work together?
You can refinish the staircase to match the BC or a color that is complimentary if you do not like the natural look of red oak. The staircase does not have to match the floor species. BC costs about 3.25/ft + tax for 3" wide. Check the company's builder references for their quality. Not consumers. Builders do not use a sub more than once if the quality was not there. GW
Thanks, Greg. You know, I would never have thought of getting builder references. It is intimidating posting on a pro forum, but I'm glad I did :)
