started painting primer on interior walls. I got one of those Wagner airless sprayer, not the hand held but the pump style. I have never spray latex with this. the gun keeps pluggin up.
question : What size tip do I need for latex?
I hate my house, my house hate me. I got a hurricane that going to hit head on within 20 hours. Let see if this paint is truly ” The Weather Beater”

What size are ya using now? Not as familiar with Wagner, but if it's one of the smaller pumps, it probably won't support anything bigger than a .017 or .019. I would try a 517, maybe a 519. The first number is the fan size, a 5 would spray a 10 to 12" swath. If that's to wide for you, you could go to a 4, which will give you a 8 to 10" swath. The 2nd 2 number's are the oriface size.
Does it have a pump filter? Gun filter? Are you using a reverse-a-tip or a flat tip?
some primers are a little grittier than the top coats. If it persists, you could try straining the paint first. use any old pair of pantyhose you might have laying around
Here's hoping that the hurricane doesn't hit

Not familliar with Wagners either but there's a lot of disparity between the thickness of different latex paints. I would suspect Wagner's user manual at least touches on the idea of thinning and how to measure viscosity which would be appropriate for that equipment. Floetrol latex paint thinner works well, and on a primer even if you use enough to change the color a little, it probably doesn't matter.
I got a 413, 415, 517 tips.
as far as the hurricane, it is 200 miles due south heading this way. Come to papa, I need another day off from work.
oh, dont worry, remember its a concrete house.
413 is probably too small for latex especially if you don't have a fine filter either in the gun or pump, I spray most latex with a 515 tip, the 517 is pretty wide ( moves a lot of material ) I only use that when spraying tuff hide ( skim coat leveler ). I would try getting a fine filter for your pump or gun and always strain paint that comes from a container that has been opened.
your mileage may vary.

Well of course a 517 moves a lot of material, that's the point. I suppose you use a sash brush for cutting in <g>

cutting in? brush ? ( for drips right ). Isn't that what shields, tape, plastic and paper are for? <G>
I'll second the addition of Floetrol besides the change of tip. Should be available at any paint store near you. You just MIGHT get away with the tip you're using IF you use the Floetrol.
As mentioned earlier , always use paint strainers . Flush the unit with water before using . Nylon stocking will strain in a pinch, but makes wife mad for a little while. [ oh well , its always something] I imagine that your wagner is a small unit and thinning of latex is necceary by ten percent , with addition of flotrol. A wagner gun holds a stainer in the handle of the gun. You might invest in reversable tip. A 15 would be adequate , a 17 inside would be better if the unit will keep up with it. Dont forget to final rinse with laquer thinner after each use.

Your own house aye? Just think, if you had went ahead and started rolling the thing instead of playing around with a wagner sprayer you'd have been done long ago. Saves the hassle of covering window glass and doorknobs. Personally I think spray painting interiors is for apartments that lease out to new folks every six months and to low income rentals.

the sprayer is the one when I sprayed the floor. a poly. right now I,m just trying to prime the ceiling. I was using the 517 just for the ceiling. It work real good till it starting blockage. Got half the house done. Right now everything same color, no doors or frames are up, so no cutting except around windows. when final color goes on , thats wife job, I just became retired. She can do it however she wants.
Sounds like a plan:)Half of good living is staying out of bad situations.
