I am building a commercial building ( my woodshop) and need to meet ADA Code (handicap) Specs. The question I have is regarding parking space and sidewalk. Does the parking space need to be paved? I have heard yes and no from different architects. If yes, will oil & chip do vs. blacktop or concrete? How wide does he space need to be?
Thanks for your help.
By the way, check out http://userweb.nni.com/walnutcreek@mwci.net for progress on the building.

*Randy,12'min; 13' max (assuming a perpendicular space).Regarding the surface..."it shall be stable, firm, slip-resistant..." How's that for vague!
*As Trent pointed out the ADA is open to interpretation. That interpretation usually is handed down from the local planning dept which is usually represented by a single individual. This means that one individual has enormous power and influence in how your job progresses. Also, this interpretation may change on a job-to-job basis. The ADA is "vaguely written, strictly enforced".
