Here’s the deal: During a recent bathroom project we installed a whirlpool with the controls/bathrub spout coming out of a knee wall. The homeowner wanted to add a handheld shower to the setup. I mistakenly believed that you could simply come off of the shower outlet of the controls. WRONG! Because the the pipe coming off of the showers outlet doesn’t go straight up the wall, because it’s only a knee wall (4′ tall) when the water is turned on, water comes out of both places. Thinking I might be able to avert having to cut into the tiles knee wall, I bought a localized shower stop that works off of a button. This stops 98% of the water, but it still dribbles. I spoke with a guy at a local plumbing supply and he tells me that’s due to the thermostatically balanced valve or something of that order. Here’s my question: DO they make a localized shutoff that can go on the end of the rope/pipe that leads to the handheld. When they’re ready for water, they only have to turn that valve on, and lift the divertor on the tubfaucet. I have already drilled to holes in the top of the wall, reached in and lifted the pipe (Kitec Pex-Al-Pex) to the top of the wall. What should I do?
