Need recipe for concrete ‘skimcoat’
Due to a formsetting mistake, I need to add thickness to the face of a poured concrete stemwall that’s about 2 months old. The concrete does not plane out with the element above it, and I’m feeling compelled to fix it instead of planting a bush in front of it. The area in question tapers from 0 to 3/4″ over 8 feet. I’m imagining some sort of stucco and possibly a piece of expanded metal lath ramset onto the wall. Any input on recipe, number of coats, application technique, bonding agent, etc.? I don’t know if I can get stucco at the local yard, but it’s likely, and I definitely have sand, portland, structural grout, etc.
FWIW there are not any structural ramifications here. The wall is 10″ thick except in the slightly thin area described. The mudsill is 3×6 and is entirely supported. The thin area affects the visual relationship to a trim detail I’m running… it’s complicated but I can post a photo if it matters.

Even HD sells premixed stucco (white). Your mason supply yard should have it as well..All the yards by me do.
Its fiber reinforced and goes on real nice. I've used it on an entire wall. Its even more water resistant than home made stucco. Its a bit costly but you won't need all that much..I put it right over an existing concrete stem wall and no mesh was required. Not even a crack in over ten years.
