My sister is negotiating to buy a “renovated” BHO house in Peekskill NY. Cosmetically it seems OK (new floors, kitchen…………etc…..Was built in the ’40’s. I don’t have time to head ot to NY (getting married in 2 weeks, just too much to do.) to check it out. Does anybody know of a good home inspector in that area? ie. one who is good at spotting tell tale signs of stuff hidden in the walls or just if the HO was a hack. BTW, HO “buys, renovates, and then sells houses as a primary source of income. That’s why I’m concerned.
IMOE, too many (“pro home inspectors”) point out the minor (obvious) stuff, and down-play the major to let the deal go through.
Any help or leads would be greatly appreciated.
