Hello,
I’ve been groveling in the basement of this house, addressing an unfooted foundation, where a second story was added in 1927. The previous owner did substantial structural upgrading, but didn’t finish the back section of the house where a scary looking 4″ cast iron pipe runs down right in front of the electrical panel.
It appears the weight of the pipe and the settling of the house pushed the 4” inch pipe leaving the house under the unfooted portion of the house, into a slight negative slope back into the basement.
The toilet flushes fine, but that all thats being used at the moment.
If I sleeved the 4” pipe or added a rubber hose coupling with clamps, could I run a 3” ABS pipe at a greater positive slope in side the 4” inch pipe? The cast iron pipe maybe slopes negative about 3-7 degrees.
The pipe running infront of the electrical panel has been removed, as it served a now defrunct toilet above.
However, after I removed it I discovered that the newer bathroom with toilet sink and shower 20 feet away and above does not have a vent at all. The vent was the cast iron pipe I removed, that served as waste for defunct toilet above and vent to the roof.
I temporarily vented into a 1.5 inch galvanized pipe that tied into the old sink in the now defunct bathroom that then tied into the 4” cast iron pipe above the toilet.
Any thoughts or advice appreciated.

Bump, and can you do a sketch?

Well, this morning I scaped off dirt on top of the pipe and put a bullet level on top. The pipe exiting the house has what appears to be 1/4'' of slope per foot.I don't know plumbers terminology, but the Y fitting behind (upstream) this section of pipe appears to have enough slope. Below the Y is a upside down T junction. At this T junction, upstream, the PO installed a Trap housed in a plastic junction box. Then he poured concrete around the junction box. This conctete slab he poured contains a trap, and where the 2'' trap comes out a short section of 2'' ABS fits into a reducer sleeve in the cast iron waste pipe., This whole trap Junction box settled below the pipe exiting the house. The supply for this trap goes through and along the footing of the foundation to a future laundry sink. I'll try for a picture tommorrow.
