Picked a couple of Tomato Hornworms off the tomatos a couple weeks ago, fed ’em until they dug themselves under some dirt.
Tonight, one wriggled out of the soil! Look at his wings here – tiny and damp
Now here, not 5 minutes later – wings are still probably half size – they jiggle like . . . well, I can’t think of a simile. Sumptin’ damp, anyway
More pictures to come, as he grows up – probably just another few minutes
Forrest – they grow up so fast . . .

Boy I'd hate to have that bounce off my face while riding my motorcyle. (Open face helmet.)
BTW... always look forward to seeing your work.

Years ago, I found tomato hornworms all the time, but I haven't seen them around here at all lately. Just as well, those things are gross.
Interesting little project you have going there, but isn't it a bit like consorting with the enemy? ;-)
Ahh, you know, it's for the chidrun - they're taking that one to school just now.

What, you can't give 'em a regular lunch?
Wouldn't it be easier to just get a dog?
