New construction well pump question
Hi all, I am in the process of planning out a new construction that I will be doing myself. Our current plan is to build a garage with an attached living quarters so that we can get on the land and sell our current home. I’m curious what our options are for well pump. Can we run the well pump directly to the garage and then tee off to the house in the future? Or would it be better to run two well pumps, one for the garage and one for the house. Any advice would be appreciated.
thank you!

Depends.
How deep will the well be? What is typical in the area?
If you have a deep well requiring a submersible pump you'll only get one pump into the well.
I would calculate demands based on the larger house, and make sure you consider that, and any additional head when sizing the pump and waterlines.
Then you can run to the garage, and extend to the house in the future.
One advantage is that the garage may be a better location for any softeners/filters and such. This depends on how the house will be designed.
Be careful, I know of a few folks who moved into the garage and never built the house.
(a while ago, but these things happen.)
You could also do the electric that way, making the garage the primary and the house a subpanel. (subject to local zoning...)
Whether it is required or not a storage tank is a good idea. You can use a smaller pump in the well and a pressure pump and tank to supply water to both buildings. A major advantage is you will have a supply of water if your well pump fails or if you need it for fire protection.
