I was stuck waiting for some stuff off a local electrical wholesale house’s delivery truck for about 45 minutes last Tuesday.
I was wandered mindlessly looking at tools I spied the new Dewalt 18 volt lithium ion driver drill. It took about a half hour of picking it up, putting it down before I bought it.
[It was my birthday]
The main kicker was the batteries fit all the other Dewalt tools and we know how great those NiCads are.
Oddly enough I didn’t even need to use it that day but the very next day I drilled a hole up on a roof, ah, it was a glorious hole, sigh, quite possibly the best hole I have ever drilled. Back down the ladder and I set the drill down admist a plethora of other tools, including a hammer drill, a sawzall. and a bandsaw.
I went inside to see where my hole had aligned itself and, gasp, when I came outside the drill was gone. Nothing else was touched except they had removed the Forstner bit and laid it on the ground. They also went to the truck 50′ away and got the case [or vice-versa].
The only tradesmen around was my fellow electrician and I swear I thought he had played a joke on me.
Well, my tool revue is thus – great drill for single hole applications…
I know of one tool theft case locally where the bad guy admitted in trial that when they [driving by] saw the yellow Dewalt stuff they knew they had hit the mother lode.
Of course the company does not coverthe drill and home owners does not cover tools on a company truck – another little $228 reminder that as near as I can tell someone is always watching yer stuff all the time.
