Has anyone out there tried the new Estwing Hammer that is out? You know the one that doesn’t look like a hammer.

No....I don't use ducks to hammer wood.....actually I'm tired of the Estwing framing hammers. They bore me even if they quack.
I'm now into Douglas.

I have been using one now for 6 or 8 months and I love it. I would not trade it for anything.
Looks too awkward and dangerous to do any cross handed nailing. Think Hammer Tacker.
I wonder whether the design really is nailomically correct. Seems they might have told the designer to come up with something unique, and we'll figure a way to sell it later.
After using the TT rocket, went to 20 oz. vaughn 16" wood handle. Really should give that douglas that everyone talks good about.

I looked at it when it first came out. They claim that the forward head design let you hit sooner and harder. It doesn't make sense because moving the center of gravity forward on the head would not change the motion mechanics since it depends on the center of gravity of the hammer.
Never had a chance to try it and it may well be a great hammer but that wouldn't have come from the intention of the design.
Edit.

Calvin, you beat me to it.
