Greetings, all.
We’re going to finish out about half our baseement, and we are planning on laying carpet. The current cement floor is cracked, very uneven, and about half the target area is covered with asbestos tile.
Any suggestions about what to do with this floor? The ceilings are already low, so laying stringers is not a great option. Leveling it with compound is a thought, but I really don’t want to take up all that tile, and I understand that the typical floor leveling operation would involve cleaning and scoring the existing floor.
Any recommendations?

Jack hammer it out, dig it deeper and repour. If your are going to live there/or sell it will be worth the money.
