I’m trying to finish my attic and don’t know what to do about the plaster. I have 200 year old exposed wood lathe. Any recommendation for types or brands of plaster? Joint compound will shrink too much. This is an unheated and uninsulated space. I’m working on making it an adequately ventilated space. I have huge temp. changes, and I expect some cracking. Any suggestions?

We have a lot of cat hair -- interested?
Poke around here for general plastering advice. there are many options better than compound.
*You might try athttp://www.ornamentalplaster.comRich Beckman
*Finding the right contractor is probably the most important thing. Another choice would be a vapor barrier, blue board and a skim coat of plaster. It might be easier to find the contractor.
