Anybody seen this thing yet at Home Depot? I saw it last night, forced myself to mull it over, then bought it this morning on the way to the office…. I haven’t fired it up yet, but I unpacked it and it’s about 95% ready to go right out of the cardboard.
I have the larger portable Ridgid TS right now, but it’s a bit heavy, it won’t fit through doorways, and I’ve been wanting something smaller (55 lbs.) so that I can set the saw into a portable outfeed table (see the video tip on outfeed table made of hollow-core doors on FHB.com). 24″ rip capacity, really nice fence…and a LIFETIME warranty. For $299? I was sold…then again, I’m a fan of Ridgid tools (most of the time).
This saw also has a riving knife, hold down pawls, and a nice blade guard system…all seem pretty easy to remove without tools, but I haven’t played much with it yet.
Just wanted to give the FYI – more to come as I give it a whirl on a trim job tomorrow.

I need to move a couple of articles this morning, but I plan to scoot out to the shop at lunch and give it a whirl.Justin Fink - FHB Editorial
Justin, where you been hiding?
I'm sure folks here will be awaiting your in depth, non-affiliated with FHB-report.
Best of luck with the new purchase.

Hey Calvin,
I occasionally post something in the energy section of the forum, but other than that I've just been zeroed in on my article load. There are only 4 editors here these days, so we are cranking full speed to develop new authors, come up with story ideas, travel on photo shoots, attend trade shows, meet with manufacturers, and make our deadlines so we can fill a magazine and guys have something worthwhile to read!Justin Fink - FHB Editorial

Maybe you can get Huck to write a few articles. His posts are awesome.

Checked it out the other day. Seems like a nice saw.
Does it have enough power?
I sent you a couple of pics of my pick up truck with its plywood slide out a couple weeks ago. Get them?
Still playing hockey? Then you would like one(slide out that is), you can fit a wack of gear in the back for going to the old guys tourney's.
Have a good day

I've seen that at HD as well, but I really don't think much of the fence. I'd like it better if it had onboard blade storage, a retractable outfeed support; and it could lose the handle and wheels. Interesting that it's $230 at Sears, and it has an outfeed support.

I have the TS2400 and wish it was a lot lighter.

Ok, I've got one day of use under my belt, and I'm making coffee getting ready for day to as I type this update.
To be honest, I really like the saw so far. The fence is secure and accurate (I was shoving full sheets of 3/4 MDF against it), the saw is surprisingly quiet, even the stock blade makes nice cuts (I figured on having to change it immediately). The miter gauge storage on the side of the saw is clever, and the riving knife/guard system is a standard 3-piece setup; all tool-free. The throat plate is square rather than with rounded ends, so I was excited about the prospect of making quick throat plates. Unfortunately the plates are really thin, so I'm not sure homemade versions are going to work so well. The power cord seems a bit stiff (then again...it is cold, might not be as bad as it seems), and the little horns on the plugmold are too small to get around the shank of the cord for storage. But my only real complaint so far is that my package didn't come with the handle to turn the depth/bevel crank...I noticed the display model didn't have one either - maybe they are being accidentally left out of the box? or maybe they are extruded right into the styrofoam or something...I checked that thing over 3 times with a fine tooth comb...nothing.
It's funny that Craftsman seems to be selling the same saw with their name on it...I know that most of their tools are copies/shares, but this is the first Ridgid I've seen that matches up. Typically it's Bosch.
I will try to snap some pics today as I work on this trim job...complete with a two-day snow storm (ugh). Might make for nice open-garage scenery, though?
If there's more to say there's more to come.

I'm curious, have you, or anyone you know ever had Rigid make good on that lifetime warrantee?http://www.tvwsolar.com
I went down to the lobby
To make a small call out.
A pretty dancing girl was there,
And she began to shout,
"Go on back to see the gypsy.
He can move you from the rear,
Drive you from your fear,
Bring you through the mirror.
He did it in Las Vegas,
And he can do it here."

Yea - I'd not buy any Ridgid tools based on the warranty itself.I've not heard anything but bad experiences with them.Besides - they don't even have any factory service centers - do they? The few Ridgid tools I own were either bought on clearance or are the original Gray ww tools or are the initial sm power tools that were of a higher quality than the newer made in China stuff.Bosch is the service standard for pro power tools for me. They have fully-stocked service centers and stand behind their products. There's a discussion on the new table saw on JLC forums, but if it's the same as a Craftsman saw - that's not much of a lineage.Julian
I just picked one of these up today as well. $299 canadian at HD.
I have similar impressions, but mine DID come with the crank for the blade height. It wasn't assembled on the saw; came with a nut and screw in one of the accessory bags.
This saw is not just a manageable weight, but it has wheels and a collapsing drag-along pull bar to ease moving from the truck. I also like that it fits in my SUV no problem without taking up the whole cargo area (like the saws that come with the giant fold down wheelie stands) and that I can lift it myself.
The onboard storage for the wrenches, miter and a pushstick are quite clever. I wish that it had onboard storage for the pawls and guard system though. I think that these may just be the first saw guards that don't get chucked, but I can see them getting left behind or left at the shop because of the lack of onboard storage.
I also noticed that they have put a fairly impressive dust shroud around the entire blade and motor assembly. Impressive!
All in all a very worthy saw for the right price. I'm starting to really look hard at the weight of tools when I am researching...
