In certain scenarios, flat roofs make more sense than pitched roofs (and vice versa).

I don't know the miter saw but I have other ridgid tools and real happy with them - tile saw, finish nailer, used to have the 18V planer. I would compare prices with dewalt, makita, bosch... and if the ridgid is a better price, I'd go for it.

Search for thread 114489.1 and scroll through there. We hashed through that saw somewhere towards the middle or end of it.
I bought one and like it myself. Some people have reports that the bevel lock does not hold when not locked into a detent and at extreme bevel angles. Mine was fine though, locks solid all through the range.

I have a 10" miter. Love it. Does 75% of my cutting,, and is light and easy to carry. If I'd had the bucks,, I would have bought the 12" It's going for 199 cnd here! Tools seem to be going super cheap lately at Depot land!

That's a pretty good buy. It's a heavy saw, so it makes a good shop saw (not one that you want to hump in and out of a truch 2x a day though). For decent trim work, you'll want to replace with a thicker blade. The stock blades have a lot of flex and it can be frustrating to take off "half a kerf". I have a 12" Ridgid that stays in the shop. For field work, the 10" Makita is my #1 choice.
I saw the Dewalt 12" dual bevel miter saw today clearance priced at 249.00. Either saw at that price is good
I've had the Rigid for about a week now. Very happy with it. Not too heavy, sort of hard to get close to your body to carry, but the capacity makes up for it. This is my firtst 12" saw. Very good so far. Try it out on some crown soon.
