"Other Stuff"?
What does this mean?
Other projects besides those we speacilize in. I have built daycares, nail salons, & have a huge church addition on the table I'm deciding on wether to bid or not. My previous signs/cards read:
Rehmodeling
We build restaraunts
(other stuff too)
It's been suprisingly effective. the cards were made on a card program & were kinda tacky & stark, black ink on white background. They did what I wanted, they forced people to engage me. I get alot of comments on how I spelled rehmodeling wrong. On the cards if you look at my name normally people get it. ON the signs my name is intentionally left off. I've been using a marketing /branding company 942-fish)to build & design the website, design the cards & signs. The only other "convetional" advertising I'm doing is open houses with mailed out invitations at the end of the doc offices & restaurants & a few highly targeted trade shows, mostly med office related. "this dog may be old but he ain't cold. And he still knows how to bury a bone."

looks great

Cool. Rehmarkable. Looks like you get into some nice projects.

I like the look, but I'm confused. rehmmodeling or rehmodeling?
one M..........Good catch. I've had it in front of a few people & I've not caught it either. Fortunately I didin't give the sign company the go ahead just yet. I owe you a beer.

Glad to help!
Like it.
Like the colors.

I haven't read thruoug all the discussion yet, but have two comments:
I would use a differnt term than "Other Stuff"--that is pretty informal for a sign--maybe "Other Work" or "Related Endeavors". Something al ittle more formal/classy.
I would also put your name under the email address: "Rob Rehm, owner."
I'm not wild about the colors, though they are easy to read, guess that's an individual preference, though I did have an architectural technolgy teacher tell me to always submit reports or proposals in a black folder because sure a shootin', you choose blue and that will turn out to be the clients most hated color.
The reason for "other stuff" is two fold. First, I"m not formal & classy. I can be if I want to. I just don't want to. What I am is different, and very good at what I do.
Second, it's part of being a bit different from the rest. I don't follow the herd unless it's to pick off the stragglers. When the web site is live you should be able to determine that my company isn't loaded with multiple layers of management, glitzy advertising, a line of bull shhit at the front middle or end. What you do get is knowledge & skill in an honest & straight forward manner, all at a competitive price. More bang for the buck.
The corrected proof is attached."this dog may be old but he ain't cold. And he still knows how to bury a bone."

Simple, modern, straightforward. And i prefer 'other stuff.' It engages you, whether you like it or not. Which is what a sign should do.
You should take it out of Delaware and post it downtown. All those renovated condo-dwellers will need new places to get sushi and dirty martinis. ;)
IF you ate at Zen Sushi & more you ate at one of the places I built. The former bumpers on Bethel is going to be a high end Korean with some Sushi. The show place martini bar is Level One Lounge up on the sawmill extension. the Korean place wich currentny has an old sign on it will soon have one of the new ones."this dog may be old but he ain't cold. And he still knows how to bury a bone."
Lattimore
Dublin (east of the river) is where i work now, although i'm not as familiar with the streets. Was downtown the last 6-7 years.
Probably pass by the Korean place twice a day, will have to check it out.
edit: missed the last post. I agree. If you don't p*ss at least one person off, you know you're doing something wrong. <g>

I think "Rob Rehm" should be on the sign - otherwise the "Rehmodeling" play on words is lost.View Image “Good work costs much more than poor imitation or factory product†– Charles GreeneCaliforniaRemodelingContractor.com
There is only so much room on the sign. Plus with the web site on there the hope is curiosity on the spelling (besided being an attention getter & dialoge starter, they don't see my name first on the cards either)will get them to log on to the web site."this dog may be old but he ain't cold. And he still knows how to bury a bone."

Well, that's the challenge of design - and a good designer will be up to the challenge.
With the name Rob Rehm on it, "Rehmodeling" seems like a clever play on the name. Otherwise, to me it just looks like a typo, or a pretense, like "dahling".
The website has it, so yeah, maybe they'll go there and find out. Or maybe they'll go there, and just be disappointed by how little actual website there is. Anyways, this is just my opinion, since you put it here, I assume, for that purpose.
You obviously do very nice work in your field, so hopefully word of mouth will keep you busy!View Image “Good work costs much more than poor imitation or factory product†– Charles GreeneCaliforniaRemodelingContractor.com
Thanks, Huck. We are busy primarily by word of mouth. BUt I try to help it along. Right now there really isn't anything to see on the web site. I need to get the photographer ( am archy buddy) out to take some pictures. It's to his advantage as 2 or 3 of the projects I have in mind are his designs. The developer/designer is waiting for me to finish it. "this dog may be old but he ain't cold. And he still knows how to bury a bone."

You seem to get some nice projects, so it must be working!View Image “Good work costs much more than poor imitation or factory product†– Charles GreeneCaliforniaRemodelingContractor.com
Very nice.
One minor thing: The L in "medical" seems bolder than the other print. Almost like the lines used to divide the other specialities. Maybe it's just the pfd.
People who don't get the rehmodelling thing, you probably don't want to work with anyway.

Rob,
first thing----- you should absolutely do what you want to do---- it is one of the few perks of being self employed
however- i largely agree with danno's post
and
I STRONGLY dislike the color
I find the font a little hard to read
and i find the concept of"rehmodeling"---- i don't know---maybe annoying is to strong of a word?---a little to "clever" in an area i am not looking for clever?
Basicly-- the sign would not attract ME
however---it's unlikely that people like me are your target market-----so your sign might very well be highly successfull
best wishes to you,
stephen
Thanks for the input. I know I won't be attracting every one nor do I want to. Part of the "brand" concept is to attract the type of client I want. We all have different taste. As I stated earlier, it started with an existing tacky cheaply made biz card I've been using. "The other stuff too" has become a recognizable tag line. Most folks like the play on words for the company name and appreciate the cleverness. It's just another tool in demonstrating creativeness. The big plus is it gets people to engage me. I know have that 30 seconds or so to pique their intrest & start to sell me and my company. It seems to be working, I'm having a record year."this dog may be old but he ain't cold. And he still knows how to bury a bone."
Lattimore
I would agree with you on that------
especially if you are doing resteraunt work.
I have learned that what appeals to the resteraunt crowd doesn't appeal to me------ modern menue design-the font etc. more and more seems designed to deliberately irritate me and make me feel like I am caught in a pinball game( or I suppose now-a-days a video game0 my yard sign-probably wouldn't appeal to youand in fact---- the most recent incarnation was designed deliberately to be pretty much illegible to car traffic-----that's because it is targeted at foot traffic in 2 specific neighborhoods---not cars driving by at 40mph
Best wishes,
stephen
Take off other stuff, and put on etc.

I thought about etc but it dosen't have the same umph.it's just not as memorable. PLus the other stuff is more a reflection of my personality. Etc. just kinda lays there."this dog may be old but he ain't cold. And he still knows how to bury a bone."
Lattimore
Both are good. But you have a point about it being a better opener I guess. Either way I'm a large in Tshirts. :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-64CaD8GXw
your colors are not what I would pick for my other stuff
BUT
as long as the other elements observed by your prospective client work - clean jobsite, regular activity, dedicated workers etc... that is a rockin on the mark connection to your get her done bizz
well done
