New Type Of Pressure Treated Lumber?

NickNukeEm | Posted in General Discussion on April 17, 2008 05:09am

Anyone ever hear of this?  Seems my local yard is shifting over,

MicroPro PRESSURE TREATED LUMBER

Over the next few months, the inventory of pressure treated lumber will be changing over from our current stock treated with ACQ preservative to lumber treated with a new and improved process called MicroPro.

Unlike current copper-based wood preservatives, the MicroPro technology system does not use organic solvents to dissolve the copper component. Instead, the MicroPro system utilizes patent pending micronizing technology to grind copper particles so small that they can penetrate deeper into the wood in solid form. Wood products treated with the MicroPro preservative system, when compared to current copper-based wood treatments, offer consumer benefits of low corrosion to metal fasteners, approval for aluminum contact, and better painting and staining qualities because of the woods lighter color.

Osmoses MicroPro technology has been certified by SCS as an Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP)

MicroPro is the first and only wood preservative technology to receive this rigorous certification

The EPP certification by SCS further highlights the MicroPro technologies unique and important consumer benefits. Having EPP-certified pressure treated wood products available is a positive step forward for our industry, retailers, builders, and consumers who are increasingly demanding building materials that are certified for their environmental excellence.

Below are two brochures for you to print and review.

It appears that those where attachments to his email and they are still in his email folter on Yahoo. Unless he wants to gives his ID and password they can't be accessed. But this is the company that make the chemcials.http://www.osmose.com/wood/usa/preserved/microprosmartsense/And this is one of the processor/lumber supplier.http://www.midwestmanufacturing.com/ProductType.jsp?groupTypeID=1&typeID=5Contrary to the claims of being less corrosive I understand that Simpson has not reconized it as such..
      .
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.

        "

Contrary to the claims of being less corrosive I understand that Simpson has not reconized it as such."

Of course they would. They now get to create a new round of even more expensive hardware and fasteners.

I gotta go...I've got to call my broker and tell him to up my ante in Simpson stock. They will soon become the new EXXON. Bob's next test date: 12/10/07

They claim G90 galvanization is okay. They claim they are equivalent to CCA in terms of corrosiveness. For ACQ, I wouldn't use anything less than stainless steel.

My local lumber yard in S. NH. has started carrying it this month.  We picked up a small load of 5/4 x16' decking last week, the wood itself was notable in its quality, almost every piece in the load was quarter sawn, SYP of course.  We shall have to wait 20 yrs to see if it holds up.

What was the price in comparison to ACQ? Bob's next test date: 12/10/07

I didn't even notice, which suggests that the cost was similar to the old stuff.  I oughta check though.
