Huck, Nice video and system.

Small wheel turn by the fire and rod, big wheel turn by the grace of god.
Great little video... I went the 'low effort - high reward' way and put ply boxes on a bedslide unit I got for cheap on craig's list. You've clearly got more stuff in there!
but, I am confused as to why Youtube offers me this one:

as a "related video" after watching yours.
Those indeed are some pretty nice cans...
LOL I noticed that too. She also has videos on pretty rocks. I watched them all.
Ohh yea Huck BTW nice video.
I'm bringing sexy back.

KillerCans indeed. Vic
cans in the van, junk in the trunk...
Hey Huck, the fact that it sits on the tailgate and is held down with the top plywood is what keeps the box from coming out and falling on the ground?
I have an Astro van and have been considering doing this very thing, except I was trying to devise a folding leg that automatically drops from the bottom when I pull it out. After watching this, I am re-thinking that plan and considering maybe just making the drawers about 2 feet shorter than the back so it sits.
I have little problem getting all I need in there, but I hate the fact that my stuff is basically on display, and that I have to get in the van on my knees to get stuff out.

View Imageyes, and yes. And what you are proposing will work - I know because that's how I did it when I had a similar system in my trailer. But the drawback is that that 2' section will always be filled with a buncha stuff that will have to be moved to get to the drawers.
So maybe get some crates the exact size, or build some boxes, so instead of moving a bunch of little things, you could just pull a couple of boxes (filled with the little things) out of the way.View Image bakersfieldremodel.com
Take a look at what I've done here. From the rear view, you can see that the drawers sit at the very back door and can still be pulled out MOST of the way.
From the side view, you can see that the cabinet is actually smaller than the drawers so the the drawers slide all the way THROUGH the cabinet allowing me access to things in the back of the drawer from the inside. I do need to get in there on my knees, but I don't need to crawl around much. I try and keep infrequently used things in the back of the drawers.
The specifics of the design are my own, but I was inspired by folks like Huck with his pickup storage system.

Awesome! I followed the thread but the video lets us see more of the usage. That would be a great idea for those who do arts and craft stuff that travel to flea markets and such! Maybe you should patent the idea. You could be the next American Millionair!
paint that tailgate Huck! I know you can do it! :)
