New vinyl windows in stucco wall
I am replacing old aluminum slider type windows with vinyl windows, typical of tract houses in the San Francisco Bay area. Most of the windows are surrounded by stucco, right up to their edges. A few are surrounded by “board and batten” siding, which apparently is a Masonite-type product with vertical 1×3’s evenly space. I am planning on trimming the windows with mitered rough 1×4’s. Any suggestions on the bringing the stucco up to the edge of the trim? Presumably just break the stucco out, replace the flashing as needed, and trim the stucco wire back to meet the edge of the new trim. Any other cautions that anyone might have would be appreciated.
