Newbie needing help with a simple greenhouse
Hi guys,
I am an utter newbie. Please forgive me and go easy. This is a simple backyard greenhouse (12x10x8.5 or so). Although my area will not experience snowfall, there is a good chance of heavy wind. After conversation it seems like the plans that I built from do not follow proper framing principles. Given that I’ve come this far, how do I make the most of the structure I have?
Should I be blocking between the rafters at the jack leg? Collar ties? If so, where for collar ties?
PS: yes im aware of the water standing issue with the polycarbonate orientation
Thank you
Max

If it were me, I'd simply add plywood gussets at the end joint in the 2x's. See the .PDF I've attached.
Thanks for the reply. Just so I can understand - why gussets over collar ties?
The gussets seem like a good idea, I'd add that they should probably be treated or at least have exterior glue.
What collar ties?
If looking at gable roof framing, the rafters comprise the diagonals of a capital 'A' and the collar tie would be the horizontal. I don't see a collar tie in your pics.
I'm asking if Collar ties should be added - it was suggested to me by someone but I dont know what to believe.
