Newbie with a Foam Gun – Do and Don’t
Just looking over the manual that came with my Hilti Foam Gun Setup.
Is it really that simple — and the foam doesn’t harden up in the gun ?
Literally, the instructions, say screw up can, release the pressure-dial, trigger spray. If the foam shoots slow/low, run cleaner through it, and after running cleaner, put on a new can and put press trigger down for 3 seconds to eject the remaining cleaner. It can’t be this easy can it…. ?

Yep, it's that easy.
BUT, be aware that gun foam is a nearly sentient being. If you forget about it, it ill get mad at you and harden in gun... you might find it so easy and convienient you forget and leave the can on the gun for a month - and it will still work fine, so you do it again, - and it still works fine, then the next time it doesn't.
Also, while the gun valves are high quality parts, the foam can valves are not. I've had valves fail to seal after I pulled them off the gun, and it was a slow motion explosion of foam. Like slow motions over a days span of time, hardened into a really neat organic shape... and was impossible to remove of course. Luckily i had thrown it into an empty cardboard box when I saw what had happened.
The key cleaner ingredient is Acetone, but it only works while the foam is wet. The Great Stuff cleaners have a spray tip included to spray down the tip of the gun.
