the Newell post balusters and railing along my staircase has been dismantled by my painters their attempts to reassemble all have met with dismal results any suggestions as to how to firm up the Newell post and firmly place the balusters thanks

She's exotic ,but not foreign, like an old Cadillac......she's a knockout!
Jeff is right, Stairs, railings, and mantles are the height of a carpenters art! It takes years to develope the proficiency required to install one. You need more than just any carpenter and definitely not any old painter.
On the BOZO scale this must rate about 9.4, right up there with rofers who leave the roof open while a thunderstorm rolls across the neighborhood and the mechanic who leaves the oil pan plug loose after changing the oil. No! Even worse, because the roofers are supposed to be on the roof and the mechanic is supposed to be changing the oil. There is no good reason for painters to remove either a work of art or a saftey feature. Why didn't they remove the window casings and take them outside to paint too. They could've even removed the toilet tank to paint the wall behind it and failed to set a new seal.
Sorry for the rant, incompetance and bad judgement get me going...was there a bottle involved?
Remember this other thread where this guy asked how to paint a perfectly straight line at the corner? Here is the solution inspired by this thread. Take the walls apart, paint the walls the color you want and reassemble the walls.

I actualy had a guy ask me last year to help remove a bathroom vanity so he could paint behind it. He was fired the next week.
Then there's the other side of that coin, the painters who don't even take the cover plates off the boxes to paint or don't use a drop cloth.Excellence is its own reward!
Was wondering if removing the windows, cleaning them, and then repalcing them would be easier than hiring a window cleaner.
