Greetings all!
I’m looking for reccommendations on a small electric portable compressor…. primarily for nailers and staplers, but I imagine I’ll find other uses for it. This would complete a compressor arsenal ๐ I’ve got a big Emglo / Honda but it’s too clumsy and noisy for shooting a few nails inside a house.
So here’s my wish list; the quieter the better, easy to carry, durable, dependable (I like buying things once). Enough guts to run a single framing gun.
I’ve seen two types….pancake and twin tank. Pros and cons to either design?
As always, your comments and and experiences are welcome.
Shalom, PJ

For size and cost, a pancake will do well. It's noisier than most, but also lighter. No problem running one nailer. I had a friend with an off-brand twin stack...heavy as a tank, but much quieter.
Do it right, or do it twice.
I have an oil lube 2hp Prime Air compressor from Prime Source (Dallas TX). It is their private lable on a solid compressor. I is quieter than the others I have been around and is built like a tank. It's a horizontal twin tank so the weight is down low and the handle acts like a roll cage over the compressor and motor. I have been very happy. I bought it at my local Stock Building Supply (formerly Erb Lumber), Prime Suorce is their nail and fastener supplier.

I would go with an oilless design - you already have the heavy-duty compressor should you need it, and oilless can be cleaner to run inside, less worry about tipping, etc. A 2 hp 6 gallon pancake will run a single framer ok - I wouldn't want to subject it to constant use, but for smaller jobs you'd be fine. If the job gets too big for it, just bring in the big boy. The oilless do tend to be louder.
What about a fuel cell gun?
What do you all think of the Senco frame pro 602? Just saw this on Amazon with a brad nailer thrown in for $250. Looked like a good deal to me. I wouldn't be using the big gun all day so i don't need the ultimate.
