i’ve built some basement stairs before and never ran into this problem.
i understand the procedure of “dropping the carriage” to keep the tread thickness from messing up the rise.
how do i account for the nosing that projects approx. 1″ and keep it from messing up the run? this is important because i don’t want the first tread to stick out past a certain certain point, into the landing.
it seems that if i just reduce the overall run by one inch that reduction gets split between 14 steps.
i’ve done some research and haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere.
hope you all can help. thanks.

You don't subtract anything for the nosing of the tread.
If your treads are 11" set the framing square at 10" and go with it. If you want a 1" nosing.
And substract the thickness of a riser off the back of the stringers if you are not using a top riser.
