In the coastal South, when its 95 degrees and 100% humidity outside at 8 PM it may not help
It's a heat recovery ventilator or energy recovery ventilator (depending on model) - same thing that's available from several different manufacturers. It has uses from the humid south to the cold north for supplying the necessary replacement air to the home. Am debating whether to go with one or not - building science corp. has alternate, and less expensive, designs to ventilate that are also worth looking into.
