Hi all you wet heads Im interested in purchasing an oilcondensing boiler unit
specifically interested in the monitor FCX Oil condensing boiler. anyone here know anything about this unit? http://monitorproducts.com/FCX.html I don’t have any connection to this thing just interested. i have read that oil isn’t a good candidate for condensing units. But I am stuck without natural gas in my area all feedback greatly apreciated. Andy

Hi Andy
I would approach any Monitor product very carefully. They all seem to be great when they work , but god help you if you have any sort of problems. VERY expensive parts and difficult to work on . High efficency at a high cost. ( back when I used to be a house inspector in Anchorage AK, the heat guys said ,don't buy hi-tech/hi-efficency heat units if you want to save any money. Lots of service calls.)
Why do you want a condensing boiler? Do you want to avoid a big flu? I am aware that Burnham makes a sidewall direct vent unit and I would assume that there are other manufactures out there.
Tim,
Thanks for your quick reply. Im replacing an old forced hot air system with a new baseboards and rfh in a new addition and am looking into the high efficiency units. I stumbled across the monitor site and was intrigued. However after placing a few fone calls to them I feel like they don't have their act together in the front office and customer service. To give them the benifit of the doubt I thought that they may be pushing the service calls to their dealer network in the field. I see lot of oil condensing boilers offered in UK but not here in the states. I also think we should all do our part to reduce energy consumption seems cheaper than building tanks guns and fighter jets........any way off the soap box.

IMHO...Viessmann Vitola200 comes in oil or gas. As someone who installs heating systems for a living. If Viessmann don't make it I don't install it. I don't make money on callbacks and with Viessmann the only callbacks I get are to install other systems.
