I’m sorry not to have been able to find answer in files as I know this question was answered at some point. I’m looking for the correct mixture for oiling gutters and believe it was 1/3 boiled linseed oil, 1/3 turpentine and 1/3 something else? Does anyone recall this?
thanks,
Adam

Just cutting the linseed enough for penetration is all you need to do but some add Tung oil. I think it is too expensive to do that. I have also heard of old timers adding Hydraulic oil, but please don't ask me why

I've used boiled linseed oil mixed 50/50 with mineral spirits. I usually do this in the summer when the fir gutters are warm and dry. They soak it up nicely at that time of the year.

I always mixed boiled linseed oil 50/50 with coupernol(spelling?) so that you get good penatration and the insect resistance from the cupernol.
Thanks to you and others who responded with the advice.
