I’m adding a skylight and 2×6 joists to the flat roof for support.  All of the drywall is removed.  Not too surprising the old (1960) 2x6s have shrunk(?) to 5.25″ (4-5% moisture content) and the new 2x6s are 5.5″ (15-17% MC) and will not fit on the top plates.

Is the best solution to rip the new 2×6 to 5.25″?
