Hi,
I have a 100 year old house with the original (restored) windows. On the sill, there is a strip of wood that abuts the bottom sash when it is closed – this strip of wood has felt glued to the bottom of it and the felt sits against the sash when sash is closed.
This felt seems to have lasted decades but has all kinds of old paint on it and is not reusable.
Are there any restoration buffs out there who can recommend felt that will last more than a couple of years without costing me a fortune? I have a picture of it, but pic is too large to attach…..
I’d like to keep the windows as original as possible….thanks!

There's good stuff in this article: https://www.finehomebuilding.com/project-guides/painting/restoring-window-sashes
Conservation Technology is a good source for all sorts of weatherstripping. http://www.conservationtechnology.com/building_weatherseals.html
having a similar house & windows, that felt is an added weather stripping and may or may not be helpful - I've found having good meeting rails and adding sash locks about a 1/3 in from the edges make for a tighter window and less air infiltration
