I am remodeling one bathroom, replacing shower with tub shower unit. Also adding a master bathroom with whirlpool tub and a separate large shower. My dear wife would like one piece units with an integrated top for the shower and for the tub shower. I am 6’4″ and my sons are taller. Does anyone make such units that would permit the use of large shower heads while keeping at least 7′ between the floor of the unit and the lowest part of the head? I would really don’t want to take the time to build custom ceilings above standard shoulder height (to me) units.
Thanks Kevin
P.S. How about shower doors tall enough to keep the water bouncing off my shoulders from soaking the floor outside the shower.

Kevin, I'm 6' 7" and one of my pet peeves is the one-piece shower units with the 6 foot headroom. I hate to see anyone looking at them at the home centers. People just don't stop to think about resale of their home on down the road. I hope you can find the unit you're looking for. The integral ceiling sure looks easy to clean, but so far all I've seen is - LOW BRIDGE !

Kevin,
Aqua Glass makes some tall units. Go to a real supply house. Or check with a plumber.

As is often the case with those of us who come here, I have tried to find the information the "right" way but have been stumped. Among the other things I do, I plumb dairy farm milking facilities and thus have accounts with a number of "real" supply houses. I have also talked to plumbers in the area both residential and commercial. They have been of almost no help. I was hoping to find a manufacturer of a unit I like and then find someone who sells that brand. I would really like a unit designed to slip into a 7'6" to 7'10" tall rough opening.
Hey, we could start a thread on "Dairy Farming for Tall Guys" I worked at a 160 cow all Jersey dairy when I was in college. I milked in a double three herringbone milk-house. The pit was only about knee deep, so I had my own trademarked "straddle-leg stoop" to reach the business end of the cows. And, of course, all of the stainless pipework was at about 6 feet. Hard hat area !
My old dairy barns are being remodeled. Click this link
(http://www.winshape.com/retreat/index.shtml) and look at
Construction progress, then the heading " Dining Hall " This was my old milking parlor ( Surge equipment, Kevin )
For you other guys not into dairies, these are some great old timberframe barns in the Normandy style of architecture.

The address for the Aqua Glass website seems to be http://www.aquaglass.com but it does not seem to work. Do you happen to know if this is a temporary problem they may be having or has something happened to the company?
Link worked for me. Looks like the tallest is 84"

You can get a shower enclosure for a tall guy, but just not at Home Despot. For the doors, look in your yellow pages for places that do custom glass enclosures for showers. They can make darn near anything for you, and install it too. For the walls, if you like that seamless plastic approach, talk to shops that do solid surface counters (Corian, Swanstone, and the like). They can get 1/4" sheet, cut it into any height you want, and install it for you. Both will cost you more than the stock stuff, but you'll thank yourself every time you take a shower.
