Hi All!!
Got a vanity counter top (cultured marble) to install and being in the basement the outside wall is not square with an inside wall. So the counter top has as much as 1/4 to 3/8 gap from front to back along one wall. Far too much to fill with caulk.
Question, Has anyone scribed and used a belt sander to adjust the fit on this type of top? Can it be done? I also have a diamond blade on an angle grinder. Is this an option?
Before I totally mess things up I thought I’d run this past youse guys and gals.
Thanks.

belt sander will work
If you need to trim quite a bit, an angle grinder with a metal (thin) disc cuts like butter. Score the line maybe a quarter in. deep along the whole cut, then drop down and cut it all the way through end to end. Back cut it a bit, fine tune with the belt sander if necessary.

I agree ,belt sander works well ,done it many times .Could also use a router with a 1/2 or 3/4 carbide bit . Router is dusty and the bit wasted ,but it makes a more accurate scribe if there are nooks and cranies.
Thanks DPR!
I don't have my own router yet so the belt sander is the way to go!"Sir, if you were my husband I would poison your tea"

You can use a circular saw to. Cut from the bottom and use a straight edge.

Used a cutting wheel on a drill and then finished with a belt sander. worked like a charm.
Thanks to all.
