I’ve been at this site a short time,really enjoy the honest and open discussions.I have never seen a thread about floor trusses,nor has anyone mentioned it in any of their chats.All I have read about is TGI’s or 2X’s for floor joists.Even though they cost more initially,they save on alot of labor for everyone involved.I’ve used these extensively in the past 2 years,and would like to know if any of you have or are useing them.

A disadvantage of floor trusses is the lead time required for the truss engineering (plus their approval), and their custom nature.
The plywood I-beams on the other hand, are cut from long members (40' or so, delivered by rail) that may already be at the lumber yard. Where you have a complicated custom house (aren't they all?) truss layout can get complicated as there are several different kinds and they have to be positioned in the correct orientations. Left to right and up and down. If you move a wall a few inches you can be in for a major hassle with the building department and the truss manufacturer and the engineer.
Am not sure how the prices compare, perhaps someone else can comment.
